Your ship's modules can be overloaded for extra advantage in the field. This feature does have its drawbacks, as an overloaded module will
start sustaining damage, eventually going offline and requiring repairs.

To overload you need to have learned the skill Thermodynamics. Each of its levels reduces the damage dealt to your modules by 5%.

Any module capable of overload has a semicircle over its icon. By clicking on that part, you will start overloading your module.

The moment you start overloading, you will see the heat meter on your HUD start to rise. Eventually the overload marker around your modules
will start to turn red, indicating their damage level.

Heat is distributed between three racks: high, medium and low. Overload burnout is dealt to the rack as a
whole, so even if you are only overloading one module, the damage will be dealt to every module in that rack.

While heat will slowly dissipate from the rack, the damage dealt to your modules will not, and they will need repair. Be careful, lest you destroy them
entirely with too much overloading.
